Esporsi al sole: il ruolo degli antiossidanti

Sun Exposure: The Role of Antioxidants

There are many beneficial actions that derive from correct exposure to the sun's rays.

In fact, the sun stimulates the synthesis of vitamin D which plays a key role in fixing calcium in the bones, increases the immune system and improves mood, stimulating the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, known as natural “antidepressants”.

On the other hand, however, solar rays are among the main causes of skin aging. In fact, exposing the skin to the sun without adequate protection can lead to numerous damages, some immediately visible such as spots, erythema, sunburn, others not immediately visible linked to the accumulation of free radicals.

The increase of free radicals in the body generates oxidative stress that can lead to a series of degenerative processes that manifest themselves mainly with premature aging.

Oxidative stress also leads to a reduction in collagen synthesis and consequently a loss of firmness and elasticity of the tissue. Failure to adequately protect the skin before sun exposure leads to a thickening of the skin, a loss of elasticity of the same and a consequent increase in the signs of aging, because cellular regeneration is significantly slowed down.

The synergistic action of sunscreens with an adequate protective filter and a diet rich in antioxidants, preferably at breakfast, is the best way to fully enjoy all the beneficial properties of the sun, while avoiding or at least limiting the potential harmful effects.

Thanks to its special patented formula , Powellnux Cream contains a high quantity of natural antioxidants that are immediately available to the body. Consequently, at breakfast, spread on 2 wholemeal rusks (alternatively a Powellnux bar ) and accompanied by a cup of green tea, it provides the right amount of calories and a significant dose of natural antioxidants necessary to face summer days and the sun's rays.
